Doctor of Legal Studies (PhD)

School of Social and Human Studies

The Doctor of Legal Studies (PhD) goal is to help students understand existing legal rules and doctrines, with their underlying policy arguments, so that they can think about these arguments, prepare to present an argument and let their own voices be heard. The program helps students initiate, contribute to, and pursue a program of research in their chosen areas of inquiry. The Legal Studies program is designed to advance the professional development of experienced legal studies graduates and professionals in the legal studies arena by extending their knowledge and equipping them with broad research and process journalism skills, enabling them to make a key leadership contribution to their chosen fields.

(CSUNY)’s Doctorate degree in Legal Studies goes one step further by allowing students to study and research multiple key areas of computer science to develop a unique foundation of practical knowledge and computer science theory.

Your (CSUNY) Distance Learning Doctorate program in Legal Studies will be a custom-made program, designed just for you by you and your advisor. This flexibility to meet your needs is seldom found in other distance learning programs. Our program does not require every student to study the same subjects and use the same books and other learning materials as every other student.
